A final pass for chronology, sample traceability, communication, and unresolved items before you leave site.

A closeout review helps the next reader follow the day without guessing. Compare your entries with the project records you are authorized to use, and correct only through your organization’s approved correction process.
The checklist below is a prompt, not a required sample plan. Sample counts, locations, flow rates, volumes, methods, and clearance criteria depend on the project documents and applicable requirements.
What to check
- Times and sequence: arrival, setup, start and stop times, work changes, visual observations, sampling phases, and departure.
- Samples: sample identifiers, locations, purpose, start/stop readings, calculations, calibration records, and custody details required by the project.
- Communication: who received important updates, when they were sent, and any response or direction received.
- Results and status: record only results actually received; distinguish verbal updates from final written reports.
- Open items: identify pending laboratory reports, signatures, corrections, follow-up, or documents still needed.
Basis: MONA editorial checklist for field organization. Follow project-specific and employer requirements.
